Fun We've been Having

Time has been flying since we added Elyse to our family. We had a week off school, then my parents came, then the fourth of July, then Devin's 25th birthday...we've just been busy.

On The Fourth of July we went to the same parade and firework show that we did last year. Katelyn loved the parade. She was really excited to go to the firework show, but when the first one went off, she buried her face in my neck and whimpered until the end of the show. Then she hopped up and said "Yeah! All done fireworks!" She says that every time she see or hears anything that reminds her of that horrible show. "All done Fireworks!" Elyse slept through the whole thing. And it was a loud show! She is a champ. My girls in red, white and blue. I let Katelyn play in the bathroom with water and measuring cups while I get ready. One day we ended up like this. This picture is to show the light waistband-the only part of her shorts that weren't soaked. She had an amazing time! That was also the last time she has played with measuring cup while I've gotten ready. Elyse had her one month old checkup. She weigh 10 pounds 10 ounces and was in the 75 percentile all around. She is awake a little bit more, but she still sleeps a lot. Here is a wakeful moment.
I haven't thought Elyse looked like Katelyn until I took this picture which looks an awful lot like the picture of Katelyn below it (minus the hair). Maybe it is just the angle, but I guess they do look like sisters. Speaking of Katelyn, she is a wonderful big sister. She has become even more independent. Her favorite thing is to get into our bed after I have made it. She thinks it is really cozy. She climbs into the covers and says, "By us, mummy?" She always says "by us" when she wants me next to her. And she constantly calls me mummy. I like it.

I want time to slow down. I want to be able to have my daughters stay small forever so can hold their little hands, or lay by them while they fall asleep. I love doing pigtails and finding matching bows. I like being Katelyn's hero when daddy is tickling her, and I love rocking Elyse in the middle of the night. I love being a mom! I hope to say that at each stage of motherhood, but for now, I love being the mom of two, sweet, little Tanner girls.

  2. Amen. Being a mom is great. I do miss being able to hold and nurse my baby in the middle of the night. That time alone is priceless.
